Self-Management Classes
Jump-start your understanding of diabetes by joining one (or more) KVCH Diabetes Self-Management Training Classes.
Classes are designed for anyone living with diabetes or pre-diabetes and provide an introduction to the self-management of diabetes.
Introduction to Diabetes: This 3-hour class covers the basics of diabetes, including blood sugar numbers, how to prevent complications, treatments and medications, exercise, foot care, sick day management, and eating for blood sugar control and health.
Ellensburg: First Thursday of each month, 9 a.m. - noon or select Monday evenings, 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. (February 20, April 16, June 18, August 20, October 1)
Cle Elum: Thursday, March 15, 1 - 4 p.m. or Thursday, September 27, 1 - 4 p.m.
Ellensburg: Each Monday, 9 - 10 a.m. or each Wednesday, 4:30 - 5:30 p.m.
Cle Elum: First Tuesday of each month, noon - 1 p.m.
Meters, Meds, and More: A 1-hour class that covers healthy eating for diabetes and weight control, how to control portions, and carbohydrate identification and counting.
Ellensburg: First Wednesday of each month, 9 - 10 a.m.
Cle Elum: First Tuesday of each month, 11 a.m. - noon
Cle Elum Location: Cle Elum Medical Center, 201 Alpha Way
Registration: Pre-registration and physician referral required.
Cost: Insurance billing provided. Medicare allows up to 9 hours of classes for new diagnosis of diabetes. Please contact your insurance company for further information regarding Diabetes Self-Management Training coverage. A physician referral is needed for insurance billing.
