Kittitas Valley Community Hospital and The Valley Clinic Explore Partnership

12/10/2008

Ellensburg, Wash, December 10, 2008 -- Kittitas Valley Community Hospital (KVCH) and The Valley Clinic are actively discussing a partnership that would join the clinic under the hospital’s umbrella.

The Valley Clinic physicians and KVCH administration are mutually interested in the affiliation, which would benefit the clinic, the hospital, as well as the community.

“It seems like a natural progression,” said Michael Fraser, KVCH Interim CEO. “The Valley Clinic has a long standing reputation for clinical excellence and community service that closely aligns with the mission and vision of the hospital. Our goal is that this would be a seamless transition for the patients we serve.”

If approved, The Valley Clinic would be managed by KVCH, employing both the physicians and The Valley Clinic staff.

“The alliance would not only strengthen the service we provide to our patients,” said Dr. Don Solberg of The Valley Clinic, “but also assist in physician recruitment to the County.”

The Valley Clinic is the most established primary care clinic in the region, first opening its doors in 1935. The Valley Clinic’s seven board certified family physicians and two physician assistants provide primary care to over 24,000 patients a year.

KVCH anticipates final discussions will be completed within the next two weeks, with the final approval going to the Valley Clinic and the Hospital Board of Commissioners in January 2009.
