KVCH Institutes Visitation Restrictions Due to H1N1

10/16/2009

Because of the increase of influenza in the area, KVCH has put temporary restrictions on its visitation policy.  Dr. Don Solberg, chief medical officer for KVCH says the restrictions were carefully considered in order to reduce possible exposure and to help protect patients, healthcare workers and community members.

“The health and safety of our patients is the primary reason for instituting visitation restrictions. Many hospitalized patients are vulnerable to contracting influenza, and it is our responsibility to take appropriate precautions as we provide care,” Solberg said.

The restrictions include:

·         Visitation is limited to people 18 years or older in all areas of the hospital. No more than two visitors at a time will be permitted to visit a patient.

·         All visitors are requested to sanitize their hands with the alcohol-based sanitizers when they enter the hospital, nursing units and patient rooms. Hand sanitizers are located throughout the hospital and in patient rooms.

·         PLEASE: Do not enter the hospital as a visitor if you have any flu symptoms including fever, aching, headache, sore throat, cough, vomiting or diarrhea.
